Day 92 of 100 Days to Greatness: How do habits become habitual?

Everyone has habits in their life that they have developed over the years. Some of them are really good for you and others not so much. For example, you might have learned to brush your teeth every morning and every night before bed. This will keep your teeth healthy and it is a habit that will give you a better smile, save you big money at the dentist, and prevent a whole lot of pain and suffering (anyone who has ever had a dental extraction will agree wholeheartedly).

On the other hand, you might have developed the habit for procrastination. You definitely aren’t alone. Everyone procrastinates to some degree, and some people make it a way of life. Procrastination happens for many reasons. Sometimes it is the fear of success, the lack of confidence in achieving it and sometimes, it is just a lack of motivation.

It all starts with understanding the psychology behind your habits: how they form, what motivates you to perform them and how they become a permanent part of your life.

The first thing that you need to understand is that all habits – from brushing your teeth to recognizing and taking advantage of multi-million dollar business opportunities – are formed exactly the same way. The neurological process in forming habits is identical, and it doesn’t matter if it is a tiny habit, a major habit, a bad habit or a good one.

Understanding this is actually one of the most important things that you can do because it immediately tells you something about yourself – namely, that if you can teach yourself to brush your teeth twice or three times a day, without even thinking about it, then you can teach yourself anything.   You can have confidence in your ability to teach yourself any good habit that you want because you have already done it many times in your life.

Visualizing success is equivalent to attaching your dreams to reality. ~CoachDSA

In effective goal setting we use the power of visualization.   When setting effective goals you are painting a new internal picture of where you want to be and what you want to see.   Think of this principle: when you visualize the new outcomes during visualization  you become discontent with your current status, this in turn creates the drive and energy you need to proceed toward your goals with a greater persistence.  Every task and goal that was ever attained was done one step at at a time, one bite size chunk at a time, step by step.   If you don’t take the next step you will never know what could have been.   Your journey to success begins with the first step in the right direction.  Create a plan, work the plan, the planning will pay off.  Be unstoppable begin now!

Day 23 of 100 Days to Greatness

The subconscious files  remain active, at some point you will need to delete and reprogram.

This decade has been the decade of brain research through technology.  The wonderful thing about this is that we have come to understand that we are not hard wired as we once believed and that the brain can create, co-create, and establish new neurological pathways that will get us different results.  With a estate of 100 billion neurons the human brain is capable of storing from 1-1000 terabytes of information on you and your life experiences.  It stores all information rather good or bad, successful or unsuccessful, the cells remember the motions that are attached to a feeling and event.  Yes, they are all there just waiting for the conscious mind to call them forward.  The good thing is that your subconscious stores your “perceived truth” and only stores what you think happened.  Here is where all of your expectations about others and your very own self concepts are forming your beliefs about what your a capable of achieving.  You must modify your ineffective beliefs before your can increase mental and physical performance.  Once you  engage upgraded thinking systems, you will see improvements in all areas of your life.  Do it now “create a life you love!”
